- Hi folks. Sad story to tell ya...
-
- My 1200 has been accelerated recently with a DKB Cobra 28 (28 Mhz 030).
- No FPU, but 32 Meg of fast RAM memory (the real reason for installing
- the accel card). My faithful, reliable Expansion Systems SCSI+ no longer
- operates with this board installed. When I click the "DFMOUNT" icon (or
- try to use DFMount from the CLI) it blows up with one of those "suspend
- or reboot" type requesters.
-
- Does anyone else have this setup, and is it working ?
-
- I found recently a WWW page for Expansion Systems, that shows an UPDATED
- version of the software for the SCSI+ (Jan of '96 !!). I can't seem to
- get this DMS file to unpack, however. It gets a checksum error. :-(
-
- And I was SO hoping it would fix my problem...
-
- Anyway, in talking to DKB, they told me I would have no success with
- this, as the SCSI+ violates all the "rules" for the IDE interface cable
- lengths etc... HMMM, it's been working just fine, thanks, until now, and
- we are NOT talking about transfer errors, just can't even run the mount
- command. Soooo, silly me, I bought the DKB Ferret SCSI option. Installed
- it on my Cobra 28.
-
- It sees the drives that were formatted using the SCSI+, and even boots
- off them. Then at some point it decides one of the drives has an RDB
- error. O.K., maybe the format utiility for the Ferret will fix this.
-
- After using the "Toolbox" program to format and prep the drive, all the
- data was copied back to it. It works just fine ! At least, that is until
- a reboot. Then the disk's Icon disappears from the workbench, never to
- be found again. Repeating the whole thing (format, copy, etc.) the drive
- is fully useable. Then reboot and "poof", instant invisible drive.
-
- I had little luck with DKB tech support (so far), but he tells me that
- they have ALL NEW software for the thing. He asked me to return it to
- him, he will test it and send it back with the new software.
-
- So, my questions for you knowledgable folks here in .hardware......
-
- 1) Anybody using DKB Cobra with DataFlyer SCSI+ (and working) ??
- 2) Anybody got DKB Cobra and Ferret that works ??
- 30 If Ferret works, what software are you using (toolbox?) ?
-
- Thanks in advance for any help.
